Melodías de la vida/Melodies of Lives – Children Remember: a memory art project
The 14th year of El Día de los Muertos, Petaluma is scheduled for October 5th thru November 3rd. This celebration, typical to parts of Latin America is a time to honor and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have died and to acknowledge death as a part of life.
We would like to invite you to be a part of our celebration. As students of Elementary through High School you may have someone special who is no longer with us whom you would like to remember by making a portrait of him or her.
How to participate:
- Make a portrait (max. size 11×15”) of a person, friend, family member or pet who has died.
- Include a handwritten description (in, beside or on a separate 4×6” paper) about why that person or pet is important to you.
- Turn it in with your completed ChildrenRememberApplication 2014 by October 17th to Colors of Spanish.
All of the portraits will be reviewed by a committee and given prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The portraits will be exhibited in the Petaluma Regional Library and divided into four categories based on grade levels:
K-3 | 4-6 | 7-9 | 10-12
